The Luo: Previously known as nilotic kavirondo , the luo ( jaluo ) are an ethnic group found in nyanza , eastern uganda and northern tanzania.

The Gabra: The gabra are tall and slender people who migrated from southern somali to north - eastern kenya. They are pastoralists. 
The Kikuyu: The kikuyu are the most populous ethnic group in kenya. They are settled in central kenya which is also the heart of farming in kenya. The kikuyu are known for their enterprising nature.
The Luhya: Luyha myths of origin suggests a migration from egypt before settling around the mt. Elgon area and thereafter again displaced a pygmy race from western kenya where they ( the luyha ) now live.
The Turgen: The turgen are a branch of the kalenjin community and they live in baringo , koibatek and the rift valley districts. Almost all of kenya's world famous long distance runners come from the kalenjin community. They are a hard working community often having to walk long distances to schools, to graze cattle and to look for firewood |
